Introduction
The creation of Fascinations began with our owner’s purchase of a small Tucson, Arizona novelty boutique in the mid- 1980s. With an unmatched attention for detail and an earnest spirit, a playful group of people initiated the remodeling and reorganization of what would become one of Fascinations’ premier retail outlets. In order to accommodate growing demand after the success of the first store, our owner set out to establish new locations throughout the southwest United States.

New stores in Phoenix, Denver, Boulder, and Tucson soon followed with the helpful guidance and imaginative contributions of our valuable employees. Now, with company offices located in Chandler, Arizona, Fascinations operates stores in Arizona, California, Colorado and Oregon.

Our Guiding Principles
Every legal adult has a right to obtain sexually oriented materials. We feel these adults also have a right to enjoy such legally acquired materials in a responsible manner.

Sexuality is an intrinsic, healthy, life-long part of being human. Human sexuality is multi-faceted. It is the interplay of gender, gender role, gender identity, sexual orientation, sexual preference and social norms as they affect one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual life. This interaction includes emotions, attitudes, values, relationships, self-image and ideals, as well as one’s behavior.

All people, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, have rights that need to be respected and responsibilities that need to be exercised. Everyone- female, male, transgender, heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual- has basic human needs for intimacy and affection and the right to fulfill these needs in ways that are respectful of themselves and others. We further believe that all of these same people have the responsibility to behave in ways that are equitable and sexually healthy.

In a pluralistic society, we strive to respect diverse sexual attitudes and behaviors, as long as they are based on ethical standards, responsibility for one another, justice, equality and non-violence. People have a variety of opinions on sexuality because they come from different backgrounds and their own personal histories. However, most people agree that sexual behavior should reflect the values of respect, equity, and mutual consent.

There are many healthy ways to express one’s sexual feelings, alone or with a partner. Sexual intercourse is only one form of sexual expression. People explore a wide spectrum of sexual behaviors in their development and on into maturity. Many of these behaviors pose no risk of sexually transmitted infection. We feel such pleasurable behavior should be consensual and respectful of one’s self and one’s partner.

It is unacceptable to pressure, force, or exploit another person sexually. Each person should choose freely whether to engage in any sexual experience- whether it’s just touching or sexual intercourse- without pressure. To knowingly engage in sexual behavior with someone whose judgment is weakened by alcohol or drugs is not acceptable. In Arizona, where our company is based, such behavior is punishable by law.

Abstaining from sexual intercourse is the most effective method of preventing sexually transmitted infections. All people need information and skill pertaining to how to abstain from unwanted or unhealthy sexual activity. People have a right to know that abstinence prevents sexually transmitted infections.
